Google AdSense

Google’s AdSense program is an easy way to earn money from your website. By inserting snippets of code into your webpages, you can display image and text ads on your site. There are two things unique about AdSense:

  1. Automatic Targeting
With no extra work on your end, Google AdSense will display ads that are targeted to each page of your site. If you have a webpage about dogs, the ads may be about dog training or pet food stores. You can also add a Google search box to your site which will show ads targeted to the search query along with results from your own site or Google.
  2. Easy to Join
Traditional advertising networks have barriers to entry that prevent most small website owners from joining. They require a minimum level of traffic, special placement rules for their ads, and often don’t allow types of sites AdSense will, such as forums.

After joining AdSense, you log in to your account and choose what types of ads you’d like to display. You can create code snippets for various sizes including 468×60 banners, 120×600 skyscrapers, 300×250 boxes, and many other sizes. You can customize the colors of the ads to match your website and decide whether you want to show text ads, image ads or both.

After inserting the ads into your pages, you’re paid for clicks on those ads. Some ads may also pay just for your website’s visitors viewing them.

Google AdSense also offers text link ads that contain only links and no descriptions, and a Site Search option with advertising. Adding the Google search form to your site allows visitors to search your site or Google, and displays relevant ads above and below the search results. You get paid for clicks on those ads.

An ad click can be worth anywhere from about $0.02 to several dollars. Google has a huge number of advertisers, so there are ads for just about any topic webpage. Start monetizing your traffic today, no matter how big or small your site, by joining the Google AdSense program.
