Bob was the reason my in- laws were able to enjoy their cottage on Coney Island for so many decades. Reliability was never questioned- a problem would be solved as soon as Bob arrived. Sue Waters comments (above) says it all.

Bob will be missed but not forgotten as he was an integral part of our camp and family on Mackies Island. My Dad would drop everything when Bob arrived, usually at the crack of dawn or maybe at lunch, or whenever… as not only did he had a huge wealth of knowledge and patience and a knack of fixing everything, but he was a wonderful person that brightened our day. He was quiet and commanding. His way of taking care of things - to my family - was Bob’s way, the right way, most times, the only way. My Dad thought Bob was deserving of the Order of Canada. He was one of the most honest, kindest, diplomatic and industrious person I have met. After both of my parents both passed away, Bob continued to watch over us kids and make sure we knew what to do and that we were taken care of. It was always a joy to check in with Bob and hear about the weather and lake conditions, ‘I have never seen anything like it’. Bob was a trooper when his age and his ailing body fought against him. As his clients and friends passed on before him, his stubbornness kept him active, kept him from taking an arm, and kept him on the lake .. heck … I can do it! At 91 he helped close our cottage, took out our floating dock with his brother’s help and at 92 he promised and delivered on a final check for winter. He loved dogs and chocolates. Bob, you will be missed and never forgotten. It was an incredible privilege to have Bob in our lives. The world needs more people like Bob Herd.

Grew up just down the road from Bobby, Jim and Harry. I remember Bob as the consumate 'quiet man' who always greeted with that simple and so familiar 'halloo'. My condolences to his family.

Dear Jim, Sandra, John and Family,
I was broken hearted to see Bob’s obituary today. We have lost a kind, intelligent gentleman. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. If there is anything I can do please let me know.
Sincerest condolences,
Carole
