My Great Great Grand father was Joseph Gowdy and his wife Ann Small that came from Belfast Ireland to Guelph Ontario
My Great Grand mother was Mary Ann Gowdy that married Thomas Whitelaw

So happy I found your website and the Gowdy Family Index to Marriages from 1600-1900. The marriage of Martha Gowdy to my 3rd great grandfather Isaac Vernon, Rockingham, NC was listed in the index; the first marriage confirmation that I have that linked these two together as spouses. Hello! I am a grandson of Ernest Wesley Goudie and Ann Gambino. My mother, a single child, is not listed here. Her name is Mary Virginia (Goudie) Berthet. She was born May 6 1941 in Detroit, MI and is still alive today. She married Ernest Francis Berthet, born May 31 1937 in Detroit. He died on November 7 2007. My name is Rory Berthet. I was born May 24 1961 and I have a brother, Edward Charles Berthet born February 24 1963 and a sister Susan Marie Berthet born May 27 1965. Very interesting work you have done.

My ancestry actually traces back through the lineage you have listed under the miscellaneous Goudie Family names from John (Willaim John?) Goudie and Eliza Coombs. You have listed John Goudie as being born in Labrador at around December 14, 1859. He is actually my great great grandfather with his Grandson being Albert Goudie, my grandfather. Just did a DNA test on my daughter in law and her first extremely high match is to a Charlene Fay Gowdy (might go by the name Cherry) from Ohio. My daughter in laws grandparents are Rita Gowdy and Wayne Wise. Anyone have any on how they (or if they) fit into this Gowdy line and want to share?

Hello, Vernon, I wrote a few weeks ago. I'm your cousin! This is a fabulous account you wrote. I'm related through Charity Gowdy, who is the daughter of Rev. Lewis & Sophia Alberta Crawford Gardenhire. Charity Gowdy was my maternal grandmother. Lewis and Sophia had 14 children, 11 of whom survived to adulthood. They were all my great-aunts and great-uncles. Please write me back! I'd love to talk genealogy.
