Ladies I want to appoligize to those of you that didn't get to go for a ride in the boat at the team party. I truely felt bad about it. I wanted to take all of you out to see the Dolphins. Unfortunately I had to go all the way to Cape Henry to find them and by the time I got back we had to give out gifts and enjoy the slide show. I agree! I will bring the crayons. I am proud of the fact that you girls wrote down some problems that you had seen with the team and yourselves. I do ask that YOU as a team make it a point to correct the problems. The not listening the talking that takes place during practices need to stop. It is all good before and after practice or during breaks. Us coaches can be stern but we are not that bad. If you feel that we are tougher on you and not somebody else please ask us why. in alot of the cases it may be because we be repeating ourself after we had explained or it may be something we have done so many times it should be second nature. you girls came to the Eagles to play for a great organization. you girls have proven you can be great in(Williamston). You all need to take what you have learned and apply it! Each one of you have improved in many aspects of the game. this is a game, there are rules that need to be followed. but as a player on a TEAM there are even more rules. When batting you must apply all that you have learned if you do not and you strike out looking. That tells us that you are not prepared to battle for your team or the ump was a bowler and felt that all the pins would be knocked down for a strike with the ball she just rolled from the mound. You as a team must play defense and make outs. If you recieve the ball and do not know where the play is to be made then you will probably get an earfull when you get back in the dugout. You as a team member should know the rules as to where your next play will happen. Your team should be prepared to recieve the ball once you make your play. If you as a team made the right decisions then you will get the out. All that we ask is that you think and use what we have shown you. If you do that than we are on top, win or lose. |

There is a VLE Parent Meeting Wednesday, March 14. The meeting will start at 7:30. It is important that at least one parent for each player attends. Paperwork for the 2007 calendar year must be completed. VLE logo merchandise will be for sale. This is one of only four times per year that parents will be able to buy VLE logo items. Summer schedules, new uniform fees, and school grades / NCAA requirements will be discussed, as well as other topics. This is also an opportunity for parents to address the Board with questions / concerns. |

Hey everyone please note the changes to the new schedule posted on the calendar. Covering for Kate( broken ankle)this evening, Monday Feb.5 is Taylor( a huge thankyou to Joyce and Taylor for this one as you helped us out of a big bind! ) On Wednesday, Feb.7 Harley is in covering. Next Monday, Feb.12 Erin will step up to the plate and on Sunday, Feb.18th Andie will cover Kate at the LB Bailey clinic. Everyone else please just double check to see if you were affected at all as I had to try and balance different day off requests to get it all to work so hopefully no mistakes and if there is and it is not possible to work with, please let me know and catchers...no more injuries ! :) Kate we really need you so take extra special care of yourself and we will see you soon and not to worry we got you covered! ps you may owe Taylor a chocolate shake:) also a big thanks to Mickey and Dave for coming to my rescue today when my work computer went down and I didn't have my Eagle phone list handy. I would also encourage you to take a few seconds when looking at the Turkey Bash schedule to page down to the "Cabin Fever Tournament" also listed on that page. Clarence Bell our area Pony Coordinator has a well deserved reputation of running top notch,excellent, fun tournaments. Well the word must be out and as a result we are in for a treat! At Cabin Fever this year there are teams registering from as far away as Maryland, Ohio, Georgia, Michigan and Indiana ... with spaces still open. HALLOWEEN BASH !!! Well after playing 40 innings this last weekend we are back with another trophy in tow ... a second place win and a new and worthy foe - the Maryland Spirit! Of the 40 innings played ( 11 on Sunday and 29 on Saturday ) 20 innings on Sunday were against the Spirit. The first two games against them we won but the next two...the ones that really mattered they won..but they didn't take us without a good fight! Our girls did an awesome job , we met some great competition. and Coach Dave Lahey told the Spirit coaches that we will see them up in Pennsylvania on Memorial Day to finish the rest of this story! :) a big congratulations goes out to each of our girls for each of their outstanding contributions this weekend: Courtney A. did a great job at the plate on Saturday and in the field on Sunday. Great all around performance ! Anna B. got our day off to a great start with her winning pitching ways in game #1, shutting down the Titans 6-2. She later took our helm for the championship game, game #5 of the day and gave them a heck of a good fight. Kristin C. Pitched our first game Saturday with a 4-3 win against the Spirit. Sunday she did a magnificent job at the plate getting on base more than half of her at bats! Kate E. After a full day of school ball on Saturday Kate joined us Sunday and contributed by playing mulitiple positions throughout the game and of course searing fear in anyone who even thought about trying to outrun one of her throws to second from home! Harley F.-got her first hits (2) of the tournament on Saturday as well as making several plays in the infield at second base ! Taylor G.did her usual outstanding job as catcher, with several putouts at the plate as well as throwing out 3 trying to steal 2nd. Nikki G. pitched an outstanding games in game #3 and #4 against the Spirit getting the girls into the Championship game ! Anna K.- with her new blue bat in hand Anna was also on base more than half her at bats as well as hitting triple in game #3 on Sunday scoring Nikki the winning run! Andie L- did an outstanding job at the plate getting on base all but one at bat and scoring 2 runs ! Hannah M. -kudos for keeping the girls upbeat and motivated with her cheering even though she herself was nursing a broken finger! You are a champ Hannah ! :) Sarah T. - did an outstanding job in the outfield keeping us in winning the games, right through the championships, also nice job throwing a runner out from right field to first ! Erin W.- did an outstanding job drag bunting her way on base, keeping the opposing teams off balance. aS well she is an outstanding base stealer and gave her team many opportunities to score! Chris Z.- who also had already spent a full day in a school ball championship the previous day, was able to join us Sunday and keep the Eagles 12u winning ways going with some awesome pitching on Sunday when she sent the Fury packing and over to the loser bracket! Kayla W. - we missed you and your big bat and we are really glad you are up and at her again and ready to play at Turkey Bash! Finally a big thankyou to our scorekeeper and statician, Don for providing all of the detail above - you do an excellent job Don! and to Erica and Cindy another big thank-you for filling in for Mickey and Donna our team moms in a pinch..you had big shoes to fill and you did one heck of a great job- thankyou!:) as always a big thank you to those 3 big guys ... Coach Couch, Coach Lahey and Manager Larry Coates you guys are awesome and with out a doubt the Eagles 12u have the best looking and loudest cheering squad anywhere ! :) Well just a few days to Turkey Bash our last tournament of the season and all I can say to any turkeys planning to take us on ... look out because the Eagles 12u are armed and dangerous this season and ready to finish this terrific season off with a win ! :) |
