When people asked where were you born and I say, New Eagle, Pa. they usually pause and then say, "Where is New Eagle?" Well, in 1935, that's where the hospital was and I grew up, for six years, at 9th and Main. I remember the tracks behind the house that would shake when a train went by, which in those days, was 24 hours a day. I remember Nelson's around the corner where you got the best ice cream possible. I remember my Dad's tennis court; our barn and stable; all the neat neigbors and houses on 9th Street where I played without today's hassle. Anyone from that time, I would love to receive a response and it is so great that Monongahela has such a terrific and vital historical soceity to keep alive and enhance our Monongahela. I saw that the Mt. Lebanon Historical Society partnered with the library up there to do a fund raiser- a person would make a $60 donation, which would be split between the two organizations, and then the society looks up all the historical information on the person's house. I thought this might interest you guys, so I picked up a brochure on it. Also, are there any plans for information on points of historical interest in the Mon Cemetery? |

I am looking forward to someday soon visiting your area. My mother, Louise Parkinson, has all her family roots from that area. Her father was John D C Parkinson, son of Dewitt Clinton Parkinson. Her mother, Jean Francis Brown, was the daughter of Henrietta Louise Van Voorhis. |
