Passing of Bill Wakemen

William C. Wakemen Jr., 72, a lifetime resident Woodbury, passed away on October 4, 2013. Bill was the Construction Official for the City of Woodbury, prior to that he was the store manager for Acme Market. Bill served in the US Coast Guard Reserve. He was Chief of Woodbury Fire Company; Past President Gloucester County Fire Chief Assoc.; NJ Fire Chief Assoc.; Past Chairman Gloucester County Training Academy; Past Chairman Statistic & Information Committee NJ Fire Commission; Past President Tri State Maritime Safety Assoc.; Woodbury Scout Master Troop 74; Boy Scouts of America Garden State Council and Clarksboro Lodge 87 F&AM Mason.

Bill is survived by his wife of 48 years Shirley (nee Stephens); daughter Sandra (Jeffrey) Hitchens of Newark, DE; 2 sons William C. III (Donna) of Sewell and Stephen of Newark, DE; sister Barbara Wakemen and brother James (Rose) both of Washington Twp. and 5 grandchildren Joshua, Alexandra, Zachary, Ryan & Madelyn.

Visitation Tuesday 6 to 9pm and Wednesday 9am until the service at 10am at the Kemble Memorial United Methodist Church 19 S. Broad Street Woodbury, NJ under the direction of DAVIS & WAGNER FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES Woodbury, NJ. Interment Woodbury Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to William Wakemen Camp Roosevelt Scholarship Fund, to send underprivileged youth to Roosevelt Scout Reservation, payable to Garden State Council Boy Scouts of America 4468 S.
